Flower Show

Dias 20, 21 e 22 de setembro
Das 10h às 17h.

Founded in 1939 by a group of British ladies, the São Paulo Garden Club (SPGC) was invited by the Cultura Inglesa more than two decades ago to host its annual Flower Show at the CBB. For the last 24 years, the CBB has been transformed every September into an indoor garden, with displays of eye-catching plants and colourful flower arrangements, bringing a touch of joy to its installations.

In 2012, the São Paulo Garden Club invited the Clube Paulista de Jardinagem (CPJ) to join it in organizing the show – and it was enchanted by the space. Founded in 1972 by students of the Escola de Jardinagem e Paisagismo Manequinho Lopes, the CPJ was inspired by Professor Vitor del Mazo to work together with the SPGC on a shared vision.

Both clubs aim to teach their members about the environment, plants and flower arrangements, encouraging them to share their experiences. The members also take part in a busy programme of lessons, talks, and visits to garden centres, collectors and rural properties.

The theme of the 2024 Flower Show is “The Wonders of Nature”. The theme is intended to inspire the flower arrangements and designs and is interpreted liberally! For example, arrangements on the stimulating theme of “Sunset over Fernando de Noronha”.

Every exhibition is organised in accordance with a programme and set of rules prepared by the members. The exhibition is divided into three division: Horticulture, Design and Botanical Art.

In the Horticulture division, the members exhibit their impeccably prepared plants, which they have cared for and nurtured throughout the year. The rules state that they need to have had the plants for at least 90 days, though this can vary, depending on the type of exhibit.

In the Design division, each class of exhibit is inspired by a theme, and a specific type of arrangement or design, such as creative, traditional, massive arrangement, etc. The designs are judged against a set of criteria, including the type of arrangement requested.

The third division is the Botanical Arts, which is where the members can show off their skills and techniques. The theme for this year was “Amazonian Seeds”.

The  Flower Show takes place over the one weekend of september

It opens at 10h on the Saturday with a reception for members and invited guests.

Entry is free, and the exhibition is open to the general public between 11:00 and 20:00 on Saturday and between 10:00 and 17:00 on Sunday.
